Why WyoTech?

Helping your student choose a post-secondary education school can be difficult. Between the financial decisions to make, the stress of making sure that the school is a good fit for them, and the bittersweet feelings of your student getting ready to move onto that next chapter, you have a lot to think about. WyoTech is here to support you and your students the best we can.

WyoTech is a trade school located in Laramie, Wyoming. Our training schedules are 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, with over 50% of the time spent in the shop doing hands-on work on real equipment. This rigorous schedule allows our students to complete their training in as little as 9 months. Our focus is on the automotive, collision/refinishing, diesel, and welding industries. We also offer 6 specialty programs for students to widen their skill sets.

How We Support Your Student

In addition to our short length of training, we also offer a robust student life experience. We have a dedicated Student Life department that organizes intermural sports teams, dorm life activities, community service, and weekend events to ensure that your student not only has the opportunity to engage the community and area surrounding Laramie, but also to connect with other students who are new to the area. With nearly 90% of our students coming from out of state, these events are a great way for your student to build connections and lifelong friendships.

In order to provide the best outcomes for your student, we offer a quarterly career fair. Here, students can get acquainted with our industry partners who fly in from all areas of the country to hire WyoTech graduates. These career fairs, as well as the employer presentations that are offered throughout the year, are great ways for students to build connections with potential employers and help them find a job in nearly any location they want to go.

How Our Program is Built

Our training runs for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, with over 50% of that time being spent in the shop performing hands-on work.  We have a strict attendance policy and professionalism code, requiring our students to be in uniform and on time every day, both to start the day and from every break.  If a student misses more than 24 hours (3 days) in a 6-week phase, he/she has to go home and restart the phase after that 6 weeks is up.

Our students are also required to wear a specific uniform: a WyoTech-issued work shirt, jeans/work pants, leather style work boots, safety glasses, and have their hair to a certain standard.  To learn more about our professionalism code and attendance policy, visit the Disclosures page and the WyoTech catalog here.

About Your Representative and the Admissions Process

WyoTech has field representatives across the country and on campus to help introduce you and your student to what WyoTech has to offer. When your student expresses interest in WyoTech, he or she will be contacted by the rep assigned to your area.  This could be a local individual, or someone from our on-campus team who will work with you virtually.  Your rep will ask him/her a few questions to get to know their interests and career goals, then will schedule an interview to sit down with you and your student to make sure that WyoTech is a good fit.  He/she will walk through the school’s values and goals, then break down the programs and answer any questions you may have.  If WyoTech is a good fit, your rep will help walk you and your student through the application process.

About Financial Aid and Enrollment Services

When your student applies for WyoTech, they will be assigned a dedicated Financial Aid representative and Enrollment Services Coordinator. These two people, in addition to your representative, will be your points of contact throughout the enrollment process- removing the stress of talking to a new person every time you reach out.

Housing & Safety

WyoTech offers a variety of different campus-managed housing options, both on- and off-campus.  These housing options offer leases that match the length of your school, as well as resident assistants and security at every location.  To learn more about WyoTech’s housing options and offerings, visit the Housing Page.

Career Services / Preparation for Future Careers

WyoTech is proud to say we have a Career Services department that is dedicated to helping your student find a job and begin their career after their graduation.  This department hosts quarterly career fairs, with nearly a hundred or more employers attending, all trying to hire WyoTech graduates.  They also organize employer presentations for your students to learn about the different industry partners that WyoTech works with who want to hire WyoTech grads.  Career Services assists with resume writing, interview skills, and setting up interviews in order to help prepare your student for a career after his/her graduation.
